Mosses
Mosses and liverworts are our most primitive land plants and are distinguished in part by their lack of structures to transport water. While most people are familiar with mosses, liverworts are often a mystery. Some look distinctly like mosses while others consist entirely of a thickened flat thallose or leaf-like structure. There are about 10,000 species of moss in the world and 6–8,000 liverworts.
